After driving 5,000 kilometers over 10 days, I arrived safely at my Mom’s house in London, Ontario. Leaving from Gold Bridge, British Columbia, I traveled through five provinces, one state, survived all types of weather, dodged wild animals and even missed a recent collapse of the Trans Canada highway. It was truly an epic trip.
On a couple of occasions, as I got closer to the end of my journey, I felt out of sorts and the car seemed out of balance. So I had to stop and rearrange some of the bags. Of course, I found the dreaded Gremlin (aka Inner Critic, The Judge) lurking, nattering away trying to erode my self-confidence, questioning the direction of my next life change. So I had to remove the stowaway, have a pep talk with myself which enabled the journey to continue in an easier and lighter manner. Unfortunately, I had to do this more than once.
The last few days of my travels were spent weaving through Sault Ste Marie, Muskoka and into South Western Ontario. Seeing the last of the fall colours was a real treat. It was not a treat being reminded that when it comes to travel in Ontario there are only two seasons; winter and construction. Yes, things had changed while I was away and I get to make sense of it all as I stride into this next phase of life.
So now to unpack the car, do the laundry, scrub the outdoor gear, repack for the next gig in Stratford and start lining up the lunch dates!

Carol….wow….I have been incognito with a crazy work, travel, moving schedule and have missed your posts for a while. An incredible ordeal with your foot/rib. Change is constant and if anything I know about it, you will embrace it with both arms, make it exciting and adventurous and of course leave everyone you touch a better person for having known/knowing you! I look forward to seeing you perhaps in one of my frequent travels to Ontario and of course you are now closer to Newfoundland – there is a couch (hopefully bed soon) in our new house if you ever want to visit in 2013 or beyond……..kindred spirits are always welcome in our home!!:)
