The view from my room at Tyax Lodge is simply magnificent. I overlook a frozen lake surrounded by wooded hills and mountains. This landscape continually provides me with a changing vantage point as well as a new and fresh perspective on life.
My life has changed so much in the last month. I moved from a city in South Western Ontario and now I live and work at a remote heliskiing lodge in BC. I am so grateful to have found the courage to have made this change.
My work day varies according to the weather. On sunny days we all try to get outside to walk, ski or snowshoe. On windy, wet days not so much. Our lives are inextricably tied to the out of doors. To me this seems so natural and so perfect for my life right now.
This balance between work and being outside in nature is what I have been looking for … for a very long time. When I gaze at the spectacular view I truly feel at peace and realize that I will never again compromise this important balance.
Balance does include change. Just as the natural environment around me continually changes, so do I. There is so much to experience around here. I look forward to exploring new trails, learning different activities, and viewing life through many different lenses.
I want to maximize this opportunity and I am challenging myself to do something new every week. Yes, my room really does have a wonderful view, and this reminds me how my Life has begun anew.
